The Armed African Americans For Responsible Ownership Gun club, or “AAAFRO” for short, became a light bulb moment in January of 2016. It was the Brainchild of Samuel Hayes, noted firearms and self-defense training expert, physical security expert and urban crime prevention specialist. Having spent the better part of 26 years in the career field of physical security operations management and executive protection, Hayes was constantly concerned at the lack of participation in training events by African American gun owners. So, In February of 2017, he sought to create a resource that would be both appealing and educational to his community, that would address the concerns and reasons for that gap and AAAFRO was born! We are building a community movement through monthly training sessions, recreational Meet & Greets and fun shoots scheduled through-out the year.
The core objectives and MISSION STATEMENT of AAAFRO is simple:
A COMMITMENT TO ADVOCATING FOR PRO-BLACK SELF-DEFENSE WHICH MEANS HOLDING THE COMMUNITY ACCOUNTABLE TO STANDARDS THAT KEEP THE MOST VULNERABLE AMONG US ALIVE, SAFE, AND THRIVING.
- Provide the absolute best firearms training to the African American community, proven to be defensible in court should those skills be used in self-defense.
- Be an educational resource for information on the proper use of force and legalities of self-defense in the unique challenges faced with living in urban environments.
- Educate the community on how to survive police encounters by teaching what our rights are and how to properly articulate our intent.
- Empowerment and community building.
- HAVE FUN!
